The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating steering problems in 2023 Tesla Model 3 and Y cars, following 12 complaints, with five indicating a loss of steering and seven mentioning power steering loss. One crash has also been linked to the issue, however, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Tesla previously recalled over 40,000 vehicles for a similar issue regarding calibration problems with steering in 2022, which was resolved through a software update. While no recall has been issued yet, depending on the investigation's findings, it could be escalated to a recall in the future. Tesla has a history of safety accolades, and the company's engineers are likely working to address the issue and maintain their safety record.
